British No. 1 Laura Robson will spearhead Great Britain's Fed Cup squad when they face Argentina in the World Group II play-offs in Buenos Aires.

The squad qualified as joint winners of the Europe/Africa Zone Group I back in February, and now stand on the verge of a return to the elite 16-team competition for the first time since 1993.

With Heather Watson sidelined by glandular fever, captain Judy Murray has selected Robson, world No. 154 Johanna Konta, Anne Keothavong (204) and Elena Baltacha (209) to take on Argentina.

"Of course we will miss having Heather with us in Buenos Aires but we are fortunate to have strength in depth and a great mix of youth and experience in our squad," Murray said.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for GB to grab a place in World Group II and we will be doing everything we can to make that happen."

World No. 39 Robson will head into the tie as the top-ranked player. Following the retirement of Gisela Dulko, Argentina have no players ranked in the WTA top 100. Paula Ormaechea, ranked 145th in the world, and Maria Irigoyen, ranked 203rd, will lead the Argentinian side.
