Andy Murray has been handed a tough assignment against Richard Gasquet in the first round of the French Open.

The draw for the second Grand Slam of the year took place in Paris on Friday morning and British No. 1 Murray was handed arguably one of the toughest draws.

Gasquet is looking to rebuild his career after a brief spell out of the game, but is a classy performer at his peak and will pose a real threat to Murray at Roland Garros.

The pair have faced each other on three occasions, with Gasquet coming out on top twice, with their last meeting being at Wimbledon in 2008 when Murray triumphed in five sets.

Defending champion Roger Federer has been drawn out alongside Peter Luczak, while Rafael Nadal will tackle French wildcard Gianni Mina.

The women's game is flourishing in Britain and there will be three players in the main draw for the first round. The No. 1 Elena Baltacha has been handed a clash with No. 8 seed Agnieszka Radwanska, Katie O'Brien has been paired with Jill Craybas and Anne Keothavong will have to overcome 14th seed Flavia Pennetta.

Serena Williams is seeded one in the women's draw and she will tackle Stefanie Voegele, while defending champion Svetlana Kuznetsova will take on Sorana Cirstea.
