Murray comeback delayed after event cancellation

Andy Murray will have to wait a little bit longer for his return from a back injury after his planned comeback event in Barbados was cancelled.

Wimbledon champion Murray did not take part in the recent World Tour Finals after undergoing back surgery in an attempt to regain fitness ahead of the Australian Open in January.

The Scot had been due to appear at the Dream Cup exhibition on November 28 with Juan Martin Del Potro, Richard Gasquet and Nicolas Almagro. However, Murray will now continue training in Miami following the cancellation of the event.

The 26-year-old chose to end his season in September after he was defeated in the quarter-finals of the US Open.

Back problems plagued Murray's campaign last season; in May, he was forced to pull out of the French Open in order to rest up for Wimbledon, where he went on to become the first Briton to win the men's singles title since Fred Perry in 1936.

He has not played since helping the British Davis Cup team book their spot in the World Group.

Murray, who returned to the practice courts earlier in November, is set to face Jo-Wilfried Tsonga at a World Tennis Championship exhibition in Abu Dhabi on December 26. He is then expected to return to competitive action at the Qatar Open in Doha on December 30.
