Baltacha kicks off grass-court season with victory

Elena Baltacha is eying the grass-court season with confidence after winning her first title on English grass since 2002.

The British No. 1 beat Carly Gullickson 6-2 6-2 to win the AEGON Trophy in Nottingham and will now look to build on her success.

"It feels amazing to win," Baltacha said. "This gives me a lot of confidence."

She will now head to Birmingham this week, where she is seeded 12th for the Aegon Classic at Edgbaston Priory Club.

"I couldn't have asked for a better start to the grass-court season," Baltacha said. "I'm really looking forward to Birmingham, Eastbourne and then Wimbledon."
