Top seed Flavia Pennetta tumbled out of the Swedish Open after falling to a straight sets defeat at the hands of her doubles partner Gisela Dulko.

Pennetta may have been feeling the effects of her drawn out semi-final with Jill Craybas on Thursday but in truth, Dulko thoroughly deserved her victory.

The Argentine was far more clinical than her opponent on her own serve, winning 71% of points on her first serve. And while the 25-year-old never faltered on break points against her, Pennetta could only save seven of a possible 11.

After safely negotiating the first set, Dulko broke Pennetta three times in the second to seal an emphatic 6-3 6-1 win and book her place in the final where she will play Aravane Rezai.

The French second seed proved too strong for Lucie Safarova and cruised through 6-3 6-3 in a little over an hour. Rezai profited when the pace was off the ball, dismantling Safarova's second serve and her aggression from the baseline saw her break her opponent six times in the match.

At the GDF Suez Grand Prix in Budapest, Patty Schnyder beat eighth seed Polona Hercog 7-5 1-6 6-4 in their quarter-final clash to set up a last-four battle against Zuzana Ondraskova, while Alexandra Dulgheru overcame Anastasija Sevastova 6-7(1) 2-6 7-6(4) in a marathon three-setter - she will now face Agnes Szavay.
