Leon Smith has insisted the door remains open for Andy Murray to return to Great Britain's Davis Cup side.

A team without the world No. 4 claimed a comprehensive win over Turkey to avoid relegation to the bottom tier of team tennis and Smith can now build for the future. Murray's decision to miss the Turkey tie cast a shadow over the win in Eastbourne and he is likely to continue his policy of making a decision on a tie-by-tie basis.

Smith is comfortable with Murray's stance and would welcome the Scot into the team with open arms.

"It's no problem," Davis Cup captain Smith said. "When he wants to come back in the team of course we'll love that because he's one of the world's best players and any team in the world would love to have Andy Murray in it.

"We're all friends with Andy Murray, we've all got close relationships with him and that positivity is something we enjoy."
