World No. 2 Jelena Jankovic suffered an injury scare when she was forced to withdraw from her second-round match at the Slovenia Open against Anastasia Yakimova due to an ankle problem.

The qualifier was handed a place in the next stage of the tournament after Jankovic retired with the score at 1-6 6-3 1-0 in favour of Yakimova.

Elsewhere, third seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova emerged unscathed from her tie against the veteran Rosanna de los Rios, roaring to a routine 6-3 6-0 success.

In Nurnberger Gastein Ladies, top seed Andrea Petkovic was unceremoniously ejected from the tournament by world No. 80 Alize Cornet.

She wasn't the only seed to find her participation cut short - Tathiana Garbin will play no further part after she was beaten by wildcard entrant Patricia Mayr.
