Murray blows match point as Querrey wins title

Andy Murray's dry spell continued as he lost the Farmers Classic final 5-7 7-6 6-3 to Sam Querrey after failing to convert a match point in the second set in Los Angeles on Sunday.
It was Querrey's first win over Murray in five matches but his fourth tournament victory of the year, while the Scot is still yet to take a title in 2010.
Querrey hadn't so much as taken a set off Murray in their four previous meetings, most recently at Wimbledon this year, and that trend looked to continue as the world No.4 took the first set with a pair of breaks. Serving first in the second, Murray made inroads into Querrey's serve while 5-4 up but he sent a backhand wide to allow the tall American to take the game, force a tie-break and claim that 7-2 to set up an epic finale.
Murray dropped just five points on his own serve in the final set, but unfortunately four of those came in the same game midway through the set as Querrey secured the only break of the decider to triumph in nearly two and half hours.
Murray, top seed but a late wildcard entry, said he was satisfied to have made the final of a tournament he wasn't originally planning to appear in.
"It was a pretty late decision to come here, so obviously I wanted to come and try to win this event, but you have to have realistic expectations," Murray said.
"I wasn't expecting to play my best tennis, but [to] try and play as many matches as possible. It's a lot better playing tournaments of this calibre than practising with my friends in Miami. I'm glad I came and I played some good tennis, and definitely it'll help me for Toronto and Cincinnati."
Meanwhile, the American Bryan brothers Bob and Mike claimed their 62nd career ATP title together to surpass legendary Australian doubles pairing Todd Woodbridge and Mark Woodforde's 61-win record.
