Cahill rules himself out of Murray coaching role

Darren Cahill, the former coach of Andre Agassi and Lleyton Hewitt, has categorically ruled himself out of the running to become Andy Murray's next coach.

Murray parted company with Miles Maclagan ahead of the Farmers Classic in Los Angeles, where the British No. 1 advanced to the final before suffering defeat to Sam Querrey.

Speculation over Maclagan's replacement has run throughout the past seven days, with Murray even adding fuel to the fire by mentioning Cahill as a possible option. However, Cahill is based in Las Vegas and he insisted he does not have time to give Murray his full attention.

"Andy's one of the best players on the Tour right now, but from what I understand, he's looking for a full-time coach," Cahill said. "I've got my ESPN duties and also work with Adidas. I can't be full-time for anyone."

Todd Martin and Roger Rasheed are now the favourites to assume a role in the Murray camp.
