While Andy Murray has been hogging the headlines, his countrywoman has been quietly going about writing her own Grand Slam dream script under the unrelenting Melbourne sun this week.
British youngster Laura Robson steamrolled American Ester Goldfeld 6-1 6-0 on Thursday to reach the Australian Open Junior Girls semi-finals for the second year running, as she pursues her goal of going one better than her 2009 campaign when she was a losing finalist.
Goldfeld was simply outclassed by fellow 16-year-old Robson in a match lasting just 43 minutes. Robson won 53 points to Goldfeld's 22, with seven of those coming in the form of aces. Robson conceded just one break point on her formidable serve, which Goldfeld was unable to convert.
Having now been eliminated from the women's doubles draw, where she partnered Australian Sally Peers, Robson can now focus solely on claiming the title she came within one match of twelve months ago.
Robson will face 17-year-old Czech player Kristyna Pliskova in what will likely be a more challenging semi-final. In contrast to Robson's straightforward win, Pliskova took three sets and nearly three hours to get past top seed Timea Babos of Hungary 6-4 4-6 7-5.
