Former world No. 1 Martina Hingis has given her clearest indication yet that she is considering another return to professional tennis.

Hingis returned to the court this summer, playing in the ladies' exhibition doubles with former partner Anna Kournikova at Wimbledon before competing in the World Team Tennis event for the New York Buzz.

And the five-time Grand Slam singles champion, who returned to the tour in 2006 after retiring three years previously, could be tempted to return to action in the doubles and even considered teaming up with Lindsay Davenport.

"I really enjoyed playing TeamTennis, playing singles and doubles, and the doubles felt really good," Hingis said. "I've been asked here and there, with Lindsay. But she wanted to come back too soon and I wasn't ready for that."

But after fuelling rumours of another return, Hingis, whose comeback was cut short by a two-year ban for cocaine in 2007, refused to rush into a decision.

"I don't know, I couldn't say right now, it's always maybes," she said. "I need to find a partner first and commit to really wanting to do it."
