British No. 1 Andy Murray has come in for criticism from a French tournament boss for pulling out of the Marseille Open at the last minute.

Murray was scheduled to play in the Open 13, but pulled out late last week citing fatigue following his exertions in reaching the Australian Open final.

The No. 1 seed was the major draw card for the Marseille event and tournament organiser Jean-Francois Caujolle has hit out at the Brit for breaking his word.

"Murray did the same thing to me last year," Caujolle told the Daily Express. "He can't know what it is to keep his word.

"A week ago, he asked me for a wildcard to play doubles with his brother Jamie and I gave him one. A few days ago he asked me for five hotel rooms and I gave him them.

"The No. 1 seed of a tournament should have a sense of responsibility. If he does not respect his commitments, he should be suspended by the ATP."
