Madrid seedings

Julia Goerges' hot streak continued with a comprehensive 6-4 6-2 win over Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the quarter finals of the Madrid Open.

The German beat world No.1 Caroline Wozniacki on Thursday, her second win over the Dane in less than a fortnight, and she was far too good for Pavlyuchenkova.

Goerges has showed real quality on serve in recent weeks and Pavlyuchenkova could not find a way to break the German. The Russian fashioned six break points in the match, but on each occasion Goerges had an answer.

The solidity Goerges showed on serve allowed her to pressure her opponent and after taking the first set, she secured a rapid double break in the second which allowed her to coast to victory in an hour and 24 minutes.

Goerges was joined in the semi-finals by the fourth seed Victoria Azarenka who enjoyed a 6-3 3-6 6-2 win over Lucie Safarova.

Li Na survived a second-set wobble to stop the fine run of Bethanie Mattek-Sands, with the Chinese star claiming a 6-4 3-6 6-4 win, while Petra Kvitova held her nerve to see off Dominika Cibulkova 3-6 6-3 7-5.
