Baltacha clinches Nottingham title

Elena Baltacha sealed the biggest tournament victory of her career as she won the AEGON Challenge in Nottingham on Sunday.

The current world No. 74 defeated Petra Cetkovska of the Czech Republic 7-5 6-3 in the final, after it was moved to an indoor court following heavy rain.

Cetkovska proved a difficult opponent in the first set, as Baltacha struggled to gain the upper hand. But after making a decisive break late on the British No. 1 followed up with an early break of serve in the second stanza, providing the cushion she needed to move on to a comfortable straight sets victory.

Baltacha will now turn her attention to the AEGON Invitational at Eastbourne, where she will be looking to make the most of a wildcard as she faces Aravane Rezai in the first round.
