Caroline Wozniacki lifted her fifth WTA Tour title of the season with a convincing 6-1 6-4 triumph over Lucie Safarova in the Sony Ericsson Open final on Sunday.

Wozniacki has been the outstanding player all week, winning every match in straight sets, and her clash with Safarova was no different. Showing plenty of class from the baseline, the Dane toppled the fourth seed in 68 minutes.

The final had always looked one-sided on paper, with Safarova forced to battle through a series of three-setters to book Sunday's showdown. By contrast, Wozniacki dropped a total of four games in her quarter-final and semi-final, and she only afforded the Czech five games to take the crown.

This was the world No. 1's seventh Tour final of the season, and she marked it by conceding only four points on first serve throughout the match. Safarova broke once, but it was never going to be enough.

The Czech played with typical grit, but Wozniacki carved the ball to all corners and really did not need to engage top gear. Safarova triumphed the last time the pair met, but there was to be no repeat.

"Congratulations to Lucie for a good week and reaching the finals. I wish her good luck in Eastbourne and in the grass court season - hopefully we can both make it far at Wimbledon," said Wozniacki.

Meanwhile, the final of the AEGON Classic between Daniela Hantuchova and Sabine Lisicki will be played at 11am on Monday.

Tournament director Patrick Hughesman said: "Obviously we are greatly disappointed that we were not able to finish the AEGON Classic finals today but hopefully people will take the opportunity to buy some great value tickets for tomorrow's final scheduled for 11am."
