The All England Club is coming under fire from multiple angles on Wednesday after it was confirmed Andy Murray will not feature on Centre Court for his second round match.
Murray will play on Court One when he takes on ATP World Tour Newcomer of the Year Tobias Kamke. That leaves the British No. 1 open to the elements, with no roof to guard him from rain, meaning fans face the prospect of not seeing their favourite if adverse weather takes effect.
The latest development comes hours after junior champion Laura Robson expressed her disbelief at the competition's organisation, after she was made to wait around until 8pm before finding out her clash with Angelique Kerber had been switched to Wednesday.
Robson's match was not given a designated time slot, so the 17-year-old was left to wait late into the evening, prompting a tweet from the Brit saying: "Bit of a shambles this evening. Had to wait until at least 8pm before they could cancel my match. Oh well! Looking forward to tomorrow."
An All England Club spokesman responded: "With the rain we have had, it was inevitable that there will be one or two frustrations along the way. The referee has had to alter a lot of games in the overall programme."
One man who is not complaining is Murray's opponent Kamke, who is preparing to face the Scot for the first time. The German is a big fan of Murray, but he hopes to devise a plan to cause a big upset.
"I practised with him in Monte Carlo. He was looking for a partner and I signed with him and we had one and a half good hours. It was a step up. He was very friendly and we talked a lot. It was a nice atmosphere.
"It will be a good experience for me. To be in my favourite tournament, against Andy Murray, in England, is incredible. I will do my best. There's a chance and I never say I cannot.
Murray confessed he knows little of his rival, commenting: "I haven't seen him play too much before. I'm going to have to play well like I did at the end of [my first] match and make sure that I'm on my game right from the start."
