Vergne confused by Red Bull logic

Axed Toro Rosso driver Jean-Eric Vergne says he does not understand why Red Bull decided not to keep him racing in Formula One next season.
Vergne lost his 2015 seat to Max Verstappen earlier this year, but was handed a reprieve when current team-mate Daniil Kvyat was elevated to the senior team - though it was an opportunity the Frenchman was frustrated to be overlooked for. Vergne hoped his three years of experience in Formula One would stand him in good stead alongside Verstappen, who will be 17 when the season starts, but Toro Rosso decided to go for an all-rookie line-up by promoting Carlos Sainz Jr.
Vergne was out-qualified by Kvyat this season but finished 14 points ahead of the Russian rookie in the drivers' championship and he does not understand why that was not enough for Red Bull to retain his services.
"Nothing has made any sense," Vergne told Autosport. "Last year I know [the reasons behind losing out on 2014 Red Bull drive to Daniel Ricciardo], this year I guess there is some politics. I don't know.
"They [Red Bull] always say points matter; they know I was 5kg overweight compared to my team-mate, so I had at least two tenths [disadvantage] that no one knew about in qualifying - they know all the technical issues I had that didn't allow me to score points."
In a recent interview with Racer, Vergne said Indycar is a possible destination for him now a 2015 Formula One drive is out of the question.
"I would be really interest in racing in America in IndyCar; I think it's a great championship. I'm working with a manager who works with a few drivers in America, Julian Jakobi, and at the moment, it seems like it is quite hard to go to a top team right away, but I am very interested to see what type of seats are available."
