Formula 2 driver Mirko Bortolotti has been linked to a race drive at Toro Rosso, adding to speculation that 2009 driver Jaime Alguersuari's position may not be secure.

Bortolotti tested for Toro Rosso along with Brendon Hartley at the young drivers' test in Jerez last month. While part of Red Bull's Junior Team last year, he is not yet listed in the energy drink company's driver development scheme for 2010, while others including Hartley and Daniel Ricciardo are.

Red Bull consultant Dr Helmut Marko admitted: "We do not yet know exactly what we are going to do with Bortolotti in 2010."

After winning the Italian F3 title in 2008 he was given a test with Ferrari and hit the headlines when he broke the lap record at Fiorano. Last year he finished fourth in the F2 championship, taking one win in the Czech Republic.
