Hamill walking tightrope as UFC officials discuss future
Dana White has confessed he is heading for a crunch meeting to decide the future of long-time UFC fighter Matt Hamill.
Hamill was beaten convincingly by Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 133, meaning he has now suffered back-to-back losses after his previous defeat to Rampage Jackson.
An integral figure of season three of The Ultimate Fighter, Hamill has fought in the UFC for the last five years. He holds notable wins over Tito Ortiz, Keith Jardine and Mark Munoz, and boasts a 9-4 UFC record.
Hamill has built his career with the restriction of deafness, leading to a film being made about his life, but White admits the Hammer's career is in jeopardy.
"Well, you've got to give him the credit that he just fought Rampage," White said. "He didn't do horrible in the Rampage fight considering he was fighting - I still think Rampage is one of the best light heavyweights in the world.
"But [Gustafsson] was a big tell. He got beat up. He looked outmatched.
"I don't know. We'll see. It's hard for me to sit here and decide what's going to happen to certain guys. You've got to take the weekend.
"We go back to the office, we talk, we go back and forth. It's not one guy's decision. It's me Joe [Silva] and Lorenzo [Fertitta] that sit down and walk through this stuff."
