Jon Jones claims Rashad Evans' confidence is misguided as the light-heavyweight champion turns his attentions to the second defence of his UFC title.

Evans was in Denver to see his former team-mate submit Rampage Jackson with a rear naked choke as Jones defended his title in emphatic style.

Evans was brought into the Octagon for a brief staredown with Jones, and while the former UFC champion has been vocal in the past, Evans was uncharacteristically subdued: "I'm going to fight Jones and do what needs to be done," he said. "That's all I have to say."

But Jones was happy to ramp up the war of words, claiming Evans is dwelling on former glories and his confidence rests on a single moment of success during sparring.

"He's not even close to having my number," Jones said. "Every time we sparred, I know what could have happened. He talks about one day at practice where he held me down, and he lives that day in his head every day."

The pair were initially expected to fight at UFC 133 in August, but the fight was postponed when Jones suffered a hand injury. Evans beat Tito Ortiz via TKO in the second round to secure the title shot against Jones, with a date yet to be announced.
