Silva's manager fires back at Sonnen

Anderson Silva's manager has hit out at Chael Sonnen following his inflammatory comments about the middleweight champion, with Ed Soares suggesting Sonnen should be "in jail".

Sonnen has been hyping up a potential fight with Silva and last week riled the 185-pound champion by claiming he "sucked" and quipped that he wanted to break his door down and pat his wife "on the ass".

Soares is aware of the need to raise the profile of fights, but feels Sonnen has gone too far in a bid to secure a rematch with someone who beat him in August of last year.

"(Anderson) definitely doesn't respect him for the things that he's saying," Soares told MMA Junkie. "Hyping up the fight is one thing, but I think you cross the line when you start talking about people's family."

Soares feels Sonnen is lucky to be back in UFC following his brush with the law for money laundering and suspension for high levels of testosterone.

"First the guy gets in trouble for fraud, then he tests positive, and now he wants to kick in someone's door and slap their wife in the ass," Soares said. "This guy should be in jail; he shouldn't be fighting."

Rumours suggest Sonnen could get his shot at Silva in February of next year, but Soares has insisted his man will only fight when he is fully recovered from a shoulder injury.
