St-Pierre does not fancy move to lightweight

Georges St-Pierre has clarified that he is highly unlikely to drop to lightweight, despite recent comments from trainer Firas Zahabi.
UFC welterweight champion St-Pierre has dominated the 170lb terrain for years, and has been increasingly linked to a move to middleweight in order to pursue the equally invincible Anderson Silva. However, that bout is yet to materialise, with St-Pierre confessing it would be difficult to adjust his body to the 185lb limit.
A new direction offered itself on Tuesday when Zahabi revealed St-Pierre would find it far easier to move to lightweight than he would middleweight. In Zahabi's eyes, GSP's body would comfortably cut to 155lbs, opening up the potential for a clash with lightweight champion Frankie Edgar.
However, St-Pierre does not seem keen on that idea either, insisting he does not fancy the idea of walking around as a smaller man. An ideal solution for St-Pierre, it seems, is to continue knocking off any challengers at welterweight.
"The thing is, people talk to me about changing weight class. For me, it would be easier to go down than to go up," St-Pierre told MMA Nation on 106.7 The Fan.
"The reason is my weight, I walk around between 185-190lbs but the thing is, I don't want to go to lightweight because I don't want to get smaller as a human being, as a man. I want to be as big as possible, you know?
"I'm good as what I am as a welterweight right now. People want me to go up and we'll see, one day if the timing is good and the person maybe I will but it will take time. Changing weight, it's hard to do. People ask me this question sometime so we'll see what's going happen."
