Donald Cerrone looks unlikely to follow through with plans to drop to featherweight, after it was widely reported on Monday that he will fight Nate Diaz at UFC 141.

Cerrone stated pre-UFC 137 that he wanted to move to 145lbs to fight Nam Phan and Jose Aldo. However, a dominant submission win over Dennis Siver appears to have changed matters.

Cowboy is currently one of the most in-form fighters on the UFC roster, taking his win streak to six fights against Siver. His rear naked choke on Saturday earned him Submission of the Night honours, as well as growing calls for a title shot.

It appears Diaz, who destroyed Takanori Gomi last time out, will be his next rival on December 30 at UFC 141. The card is headlined by Brock Lesnar v Alistair Overeem and also features Ross Pearson v Junior Assuncao.
