Dos Santos expecting Lesnar showdown next

Junior Dos Santos expects Brock Lesnar to provide the first test of his UFC heavyweight championship credentials.

Dos Santos was outstanding in Saturday's demolition of Cain Velasquez, stopping his foe in just 64 seconds. The ease of the victory, delivered after a huge overhand right, has already sparked questions as to who can defeat the Brazilian.

The first challenge to Dos Santos will be provided by the winner of Lesnar v Alistair Overeem, who collide at UFC 141. Lesnar lost the UFC belt to Velasquez last year, while Overeem enters as the Strikeforce heavyweight king.

After Dos Santos' excellent display of boxing it is debated that Lesnar's powerful wrestling offence may provide more of a challenge than Overeem's kickboxing base, and the new champion admits he is expecting Lesnar to win through.

"I never choose any opponent, so it doesn't matter," Dos Santos said. "I'm not thinking about that now. I want to go back to Brazil and make a big BBQ for all my friends and training partners.

"But, of course, I will be watching the fight. I don't know [who will win], but I think I'll go with Brock."

It is hoped Dos Santos won't have to wait long to make his first title defence, despite revelations over a torn meniscus in his left knee. Surgery is a possibility, but Cigano's camp are hoping an operation can be avoided.
