Bisping plays target practice with Mayhem's face

Michael Bisping handed Jason Miller an absolute lesson as the huge gulf in class showed at the TUF 14 Finale on Saturday.

Bisping and Miller had been through months of verbal sparring with each other as rival coaches on The Ultimate Fighter, and at the Pearl at the Palms both men saw one of their team members win UFC contracts. However, when it finally came to their own fight, Bisping was leagues ahead of his American rival, finishing the bout by TKO at 3.34 of round three.

Miller promised to finish off the work of Dan Henderson, who had previously knocked Bisping out, but from the start of the second round Mayhem was the exact opposite of his nickname. The first stanza went his way when he landed a takedown and trapped Bisping's legs, but never was there the threat of the first submission of Bisping's career.

From round two onwards, Miller's cardio went AWOL, and after an accidental headbutt by the American Bisping went to work. Bloodying the nose and causing heavy swelling under the left eye, Bisping unloaded against the cage, landing body shots, head shots and Muay Thai knees as Miller clung on into round three.

He came out looking for one final desperation takedown, but when that was stuffed he quickly turtled up, allowing Bisping to drive knees into the body in a brutal finish to the fight.

"I feel tired!" Bisping confessed. "He's a tough guy, I knew I needed a high work rate. You're all booing, listen, we put on a fantastic season on The Ultimate Fighter.

"I wasn't happy with that. First round didn't go to plan. If I face the champion, that simply won't cut it. There's plenty more work to do."

Victory moves Bisping to 4-0 from his last four fights, and he is now - at the most - just one more win from a title shot in 2012.
