Bisping v Maia confirmed for UFC on Fox 2

Michael Bisping did his best to throw people off the scent, but the British middleweight will be making an instant return to the Octagon when he fights Demian Maia at UFC on Fox 2 in January.

The fight had been reported after Bisping revealed he was travelling to Chicago, the venue for the next Fox card. However, he then replied to a series of tweets denying his trip to Chicago was linked to the announcement of his next fight.

The UFC has now confirmed to ESPN though that Bisping will fight Maia, on a stacked card also featuring Rashad Evans v Phil Davis and Chael Sonnen v Mark Munoz.

The news marks a quick turnaround for Bisping, who will have exactly eight weeks between fights following his win over Jason Miller at the TUF 14 Finale
