Alistair Overeem is still on course to fight Brock Lesnar at UFC 141 after he was granted a conditional licence by the Nevada State Athletic Commission on Monday.

Overeem was forced to attend a hearing after he failed to complete a random drug test, which commission executive director Keith Kizer claimed was set up on November 17.

The heavyweight fighter, who is set to make his UFC debut at the end of December, explained that he did provide a blood test - albeit six days after the initial notice. The sample provided, though, was not the NSAC mandated urine test.

Overeem has since conducted a urine test, but the NSAC is yet to receive the results. He was asked during the hearing if he had deliberately delayed the test in order to clear his body of illegal substances.

"I did not make any efforts to avoid any testing, and furthermore, I have done exactly what I was told to do by my assistants who were being told what to do by Mr Kizer," Overeem explained.

Overeem was eventually granted a conditional licence, requiring him to take a urine test within 72 hours. He will then have to complete two more random tests over the next six months.

Should his initial test come back clean over the next 72 hours, he will be free to fight Lesnar, who has already delivered a clean sample ahead of the fight.
