President Dana White insists talks will need to be held before Brock Lesnar can return to the WWE, and he confessed Alistair Overeem shocked him with victory in the main event at UFC 141.

Overeem finished Lesnar inside three minutes with a shuddering body kick, booking a shot at heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos. Lesnar, meanwhile, announced his retirement from the sport, with a return to pro-wrestling widely anticipated.

White confessed he knew nothing of Lesnar's plans to retire, despite the former champion revealing he planned to quit in the near future even if he had beaten Overeem. "I said to my wife if I won I'd fight for the title, and then that would be my last fight. This is it," Lesnar said in the Octagon.

Asked about Lesnar's return to the WWE, White pointed out that his high-earning employee was still under contract, so compensation could be required if the UFC is to release its man.

As for Overeem, a man White has almost belittled in the past, the 31-year-old finally got the attention of the UFC president, who admits he got the kickboxer all wrong.

"Let me say, in front of everybody here, that I was wrong," White said. "I said it before Alistair came into the UFC and I said it leading up to this fight to myself because I never give predictions, but I thought Brock Lesnar was going to beat Alistair Overeem tonight. I did, and I was wrong. He looked damn good tonight. He made quick work of Brock Lesnar."

Overeem, understated as always, simply smiled and revealed he predicted his victory hours before the fight. However, he confessed it was an early cut above the right eye that forced him to up the tempo as quickly as he did to beat Lesnar.

"I had blood coming into my eye," Overeem explained. "I couldn't see in my right eye. So I had to adjust a little bit, but that also made me put more pressure because I didn't know how severe the cut was. I didn't know... maybe there's going to be a medical intervention, so then I knew I need to finish this fight before we get there. That made me step my game up."
