'Sonnen thought I won rounds one and two' - Bisping

Michael Bisping responded in graceful manner to his defeat to Chael Sonnen at UFC on Fox 2, but he did confess that both he and the American thought he won the fight.

Bisping produced one of the best performances of his career by taking Sonnen to a tight decision, which unanimously went the American's way. The Brit certainly won round two and had a good case for the opener too, although Sonnen had just as much right to the call.

Prior to the bout Sonnen had been thought of as the clear No. 1 contender to the middleweight title, yet Bisping matched him in Chicago.

Defeat costs the Brit his dream of a UFC title shot against Anderson Silva, and one judge's call of 30-27 in Sonnen's favour certainly left a sour taste in the mouth of many observers.

Far from being dominated, Bisping thought he had won, but it does not look like he will moan about the situation.

"As they say don't let it go to the judges," Bisping tweeted. "I thought I won round 1 + 2 but the judges thought different, congrats to Chael. Sorry guys!"

He also stated on UFC on Fuel: "[Chael] said to me after the fight before the decision was announced, 'What do you think Mike?" And I said honestly I think I got the first two rounds and he said, 'I think you might be right.'

"But as I said, it was a good fight, competitive, congratulations to Chael Sonnen. He did enough in the eyes of the judges to win the fight."

Sonnen confirmed Bisping's claim at the press conference.
