Jon Jones has rubbished the suggestion that Alexander Gustafsson is a similar fighter to him, stating: "We're totally different".

Gustafsson earned widespread praise for the way he handled his UFC on Fuel 2 main event against Thiago Silva, during which he used his reach to extremely good effect. The commentators on the night, Mike Goldberg and Kenny Florian, both likened the Swede to Jones, but the reigning 205lb champion disagrees.

"I don't think it is appropriate to be comparing us," Jones said. "The only thing we have similar is that we are both tall. We're different fighters, I kick fast, I'm good in the clinch and accurate and he has great boxing."

Gustafsson may only be one more win from a title shot following his victory over Silva. If Jones beats Evans it is likely he will fight Dan Henderson next, with Gustafsson a possibility after that.

"Alexander Gustafsson is close to a title shot," Jones acknowledged. "I think if he wins two more fights against like, Lyoto [Machida] or Evans, I'd like to see him with another wrestler.

"I like his swagger though, he exudes winning when he steps in the cage, he has the potential to be a star, he just has it."
