Koscheck slams 'idiotic' media for Hendricks bias

Josh Koscheck has launched a scathing attack on the media prior to his welterweight fight with Johny Hendricks, labelling MMA reporters "idiots" and "retards".

Koscheck is set to meet Hendricks on Saturday's UFC on Fox 3 card, where he can claim revenge for Hendricks' recent win over Koscheck's long-time friend Jon Fitch.

The bigger name and the experience advantage rests with Koscheck, yet the 34-year-old is a slight underdog with the bookmakers to 28-year-old Hendricks. For Koscheck, that is just disrespectful.

"A lot of you people write all these stories," Koscheck is quoted as saying by Fighters Only. 'Youth versus Age,' Bullshit. You guys are all retards. Retards. I laugh at you idiots.

"Every one of you, counting me out, I love it. Keep counting me out. I'll be fighting for four or five more years. Every time you write a story about me, just say I'm too old, too washed up, too many fights, too many miles."

Koscheck parted company with the American Kickboxing Academy earlier this year, adopting a group of coaches including Tom Semore, who is sharpening up the American's boxing. Reflecting on his previous title shot against Georges St-Pierre, when he suffered a badly damaged eye from repeated jabs, Koscheck admits he is only learning now about how to trade hands with the best.

"I had no clue because I didn't have anybody to show me the proper techniques," Koscheck told ESPN. "Now I have a guy who breaks it down real simple. I've gained two years' worth of knowledge in a few months.

"I've been fighting in the UFC for eight years, and I don't think I knew how to throw a jab correctly until a few months ago. That's the difference. It's the techniques I'm learning, learning how to throw a proper punch.

"My speed has improved; I'm faster. I've only been working with Tom Semore a few months and I've made great improvement."

Can Semore make the type of impression that makes Koscheck capable of beating St-Pierre in the future - having lost their first two battles? Semore certainly thinks so.

"If I'd been with Josh, I don't think St-Pierre would have beaten him. I guarantee that when Josh fights him again that jab will be neutralised. Trust me, it will be neutralised. He will never out-strike Josh again. I see all of St-Pierre's weaknesses."
