Edgar: Jones should have taken Sonnen fight

Frankie Edgar reckons he would have taken the Chael Sonnen fight if he had been in Jon Jones' position.

After Dan Henderson pulled out of their bout at UFC 151 due to injury, Jones was offered Sonnen, who would have had only eight days to prepare, as a replacement.

However, he declined, feeling he did not have enough time to prepare for Sonnen's style, and the show has now been cancelled.

"You don't know the whole story and everybody's side of it. It's kind of crazy," Edgar told MMAWeekly.com. "I think I would take the fight. If I had a full camp to prepare, and this guy only had eight days, I think I would, but you don't know.

"I think it all depends on match-ups and everything. I'd like to say I would [take the fight]. I don't know what my team would say, but ultimately I'm the one to make that decision."
