Quinton Rampage Jackson has been forced out of UFC 153 due to injury, according to president Dana White.

White conducted a phone conference on Tuesday to promote the forthcoming UFC 152 card, headlined by Jon Jones v Vitor Belfort. There was no mention of the Jackson injury, so news must have reached the president after he had signed off.

White tweeted: "Rampage is hurt and out of UFC 153 Rio. Sucks!"

Rampage had been scheduled to fight Glover Teixeira in a mouth-watering light-heavyweight battle. The bout was seen as something of an acid test for the highly rated Teixeira.

UFC 153 is headlined by Jose Aldo v Frankie Edgar. A welterweight battle between Erick Silva and Jon Fitch is also on the card.

Injury woe also hit UFC 152, with Vladimir Matyushenko sidelined from his bout with Matt Hamill due a torn Achilles tendon. Hamill will now meet Roger Hollett.
