Countdown: St-Pierre v Condit

Georges St-Pierre is ready to let the occasion, the buzz and the adrenaline completely consume him at UFC 154 this weekend, revealing he will fight on instinct in his welterweight title showdown with Carlos Condit.

St-Pierre makes a return to action after 19 months out of action, following a serious knee injury. During his absence he has had to listen to plenty of criticism of his increasing tactical - occasionally cautious - style.

The 170lb champ, who has not lost for five years, admitted earlier in the week that he lost his passion for the sport before the injury, but returns with new drive this weekend.

At Wednesday's press conference he spoke of his intention to let instinct take over as he attempts to become the first man to finish Carlos Condit in the UFC.

"It's a tough task [to finish Condit], but I work hard and there's always a first time for everything," St-Pierre told the gathered media. "I've been training a lot specifically for Carlos Condit, to counter what he does, stuff like that.

"I'm going to go into this fight and not think too much - let my instincts and reflexes take care of it."

Condit, by contrast, admits he will be controlling his own desire to attack in order to deny St-Pierre early openings. There is the potential for Condit to start fast and take advantage of ring rust against the champion, but he insists that would play into GSP's hands.

"I'm not going to fight carelessly. I'm not going out there and throw caution to the wind," Condit said. "It's probably not the smartest thing against a fighter like Georges.

"I'm going to implement a tactical game plan and try to get the finish that way. That's what I do in most fights."
