Matt Riddle has changed his tune on fighting Dan Hardy, claiming John Hathaway is now the fight he wants in the UFC welterweight division.
Riddle has consistently called for a showdown with Hardy, claiming he wants to use the Brit's name and reputation to propel his own career. However, Hardy has never shown much interest.
The American added another British scalp to his record at UFC London, outwrestling Che Mills, taking his recent record to four straight wins - although one was called a No Contest after he tested positive for marijuana.
With that record, Riddle questions why he needs to fight a man like Hardy, whom he believes will suffer defeat to Matt Brown in April.
"I know [Hardy] was already talking about retirement," Riddle told The MMA Hour.
"It's not the first thing on my mind right now... Hathaway said he wanted to fight me, and I think that would be a good fight for me and I think it'd be exciting.
"I think Matt Brown will beat Dan Hardy. I think it's a bad matchup for him. So if he loses that fight and I'm on a four-fight streak, why would I want to fight Dan Hardy?"
