Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman are set to contest the middleweight title at UFC 162, according to reports on Wednesday.

Silva has not fought since beating Stephan Bonnar at light-heavyweight in his last outing. Weidman, meanwhile, is coming off a dominant display over Mark Munoz.

Still relatively inexperienced in his MMA career, it is debatable as to whether Weidman has done enough to earn a title shot, but there is no doubting that he has a style - based on aggressive grappling - that could trouble the champion.

"Ever since I've been fighting, Anderson Silva has been the champion and I've been visualising beating him," Weidman told Newsday.com. "Now I have the opportunity, I have to make the most of it."

UFC 162 is reported to be the targeted event for the championship bout, taking place in Las Vegas on July 6. Also on the card, Roger Gracie is set to meet Tim Kennedy.

A further bout has been booked for the light-heavyweight division, with Thiago Silva to welcome former Strikeforce champion Rafael Cavalcante to the UFC. Both men are coming off suspensions for banned substances and will have a point to prove.
