GSP: Diaz won't want to leave his stool for round two

Georges St-Pierre is promising to give Nick Diaz a shocking lesson at UFC 158 weekend, insisting the challenger will know after five minutes he has made a bad decision stepping into the Octagon at the Bell Centre, Montreal.

St-Pierre defends his welterweight title for an eighth consecutive time on Saturday against a man who used to rule the Strikeforce scene at the same weight class.

The March 16 showdown has been labelled a "super-fight" by certain voices in the MMA community, and the last time St-Pierre found himself in such a bout was when he tortured BJ Penn in 2009.

On that occasion St-Pierre ambushed Penn from the opening klaxon and made the Prodigy quit on his stool before the start of round five. Against Diaz, the champion insists there will be a similar recognition of hopelessness.

"After the first round Nick Diaz will know he's going to have a bad fight. He'll know I'm a better fighter than he is," St-Pierre said.

"I've changed things that I do in training, I'm learning new skills, new tools to put in my arsenal. It's going to be good.

"Wherever I want the fight to go, I'm taking it there. I'm more athletic, I've got more tools, and that's why I'll win the fight."

St-Pierre has been accused of several things in his career, most notably that he is a cautious fighter who goes to a decision too often. However, against Diaz he faces a man with dangerous hands and a slick ground game, so the champ believes he will be forced to show his 'A' game.

"[Nick's] very good with his hands, a great boxer, one of the best in MMA," St-Pierre said. "But I'm training with better than him.

"Nick has the style to make me look good and he'll make the best 'me' come out."
