Ross Pearson has described the moment he suffered a potential broken foot moments before he walked to the Octagon to fight Ryan Couture at UFC Sweden.

Pearson emerged from his dressing room with white tape wrapped around one of his feet, and initially lacked his usual footwork during a first round that arguably went the way of Couture in Saturday's co-main event.

The Brit battled through the pain to achieve an impressive TKO finish in the second, but then shed light on the foot issue, which took place when he was warming up in the dressing room. He will now head for an X-ray to discover the full extent of the damage.

"The very first kick I threw warming up, full shin, hit my coach's elbow," Pearson said on Fuel TV in his post-fight interview.

"I just dropped to the floor because I knew I had hurt something. I was in full panic mode because I had really hurt something.

"That's what champions do, though, they fight through it. I listened to my corner who talked me through it, telling me to relax and calm down.

"When I got into the fight I really knew I had hurt something and I think I need an X-ray on this one. We tried everything - icing it out, ironing out the bruising, taping it up - just try and botch something together to make it work. I just fought through it."

UFC president Dana White later stated his admiration for Pearson, who could now be set for a meeting with one of the lightweight division's top-ten following Saturday's victory.
