UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has pulled out of his title bout with Glover Teixeira scheduled for February 22.

The bout had already been moved off the UFC 169 Super Bowl card on February 1 to UFC 170, but on Thursday company president Dana White announced that no deal had been finalised before cancelling the fight.

White denied that Jones was injured, and admitted the bout may not take place until March.

Jones, who has a career 19-1 record, set the record for consecutive light heavyweight title defences when he defeated Alexander Gustafsson via unanimous decision in an instant classic this September.

But Jones denied an expected re-match with Gustafsson, and personally requested to fight No.1 contender Teixeira - who has recorded 20 consecutive victories dating back to 2006, and is 5-0 since signing with the UFC last year.
