Manuwa out of Brazil bout with broken foot

A broken foot has forced UFC light heavyweight Jimi Manuwa out of a main event light heavyweight bout against Mauricio 'Shogun' Rua on November 8.
UFC president Dana White announced the injury via social media on Wednesday. Ovince St. Preux will replace Manuwa in the bout, which will take place in Uberlandia, Brazil.
St. Preux (16-6) was already scheduled to appear on the card opposite Francimar Barroso. It represents a major opportunity for the former collegiate football player, as Rua is a former UFC light heavyweight champion.
For Rua (22-9), the opponent changes but the scenario does not. The Brazilian 32-year-old needs a win. Rua is 1-3 in his last four fights and has been finished twice. He suffered a knockout loss at the hands of Dan Henderson in his most recent performance in March, after which he required surgery on a broken nose.
The foot injury essentially ends what has been a disappointing year for Manuwa (14-1), who suffered his first professional loss to Alexander Gustafsson in March. The British fighter was finished in the second round via TKO.
