Hathaway loves to fight in England

John Hathaway has rejected any criticism of the forthcoming UFC 120 card in London, claiming the October 16 event is 'a good card'.

Hathaway makes his second appearance on a UFC main card in October, following his impressive victory over the hugely talented Diego Sanchez, taking on dangerous finisher Mike Pyle.

The main event sees Michael Bisping meet Yoshihiro Akiyama in the middleweight division, with Dan Hardy squaring off against Carlos Condit in the co-main event. Overall, there are nine British fighters on the card, and only three fights have no British interest at all.

Nevertheless, Hathaway insists fight fans have plenty to look forward to when they arrive at London's o2 Arena.

"I think it's a good card," Hathaway told ESPN.co.uk. "It's great to see so many British fighters fighting international opponents.

"I'm more than happy with the card, I'm happy to compete, and I'm always keen to put a good performance on for the fans.

"It's a fine card. You can always have other people in there, but it's fine."

UFC 120 is the only event to come to England in 2010, but if Marshall Zelaznik can deliver on his plans, there could be four to six Fight Nights in 2011. Hathaway admits he would love to see such regular action on English shores, insisting it will inspire a whole new batch of young European talent.

"I think that'll be great for England. It's great to have plenty of fights over here, we've got a lot of fans who like to come to the events.

"I'm sure it'll bring through a lot more European talent, not just from England but throughout Europe."
