Dan Hardy will not be cut from the UFC following his loss to Anthony Johnson, and a fight with Chris Lytle is looking increasingly likely.

ESPN stated prior to Hardy's defeat at UFN 24 that the Briton would not be cut even if he chalked up a third straight loss, and now Fighters Only have confirmed as much with the UFC. Few fighters survive after failing to win in three fights, but Hardy has succumbed to the current UFC welterweight champion, the last WEC welterweight champion, and the biggest opponent in the 170lb division.

Now it is expected that Hardy will fight Lytle, who accepted the Brit's invitation to an all-out war on Wednesday. Lytle was the name on Hardy's lips after he lost to Johnson, having won six Fight of the Night awards during his UFC career.

"I think it would be awesome," said Lytle. "I know exactly how [Hardy] feels. He wants to go out there and fight. Just get out there and bang. He didn't get to do that in his last fight and I'm all about it. Let's do it!"

Hardy has responded to Lytle's enthusiasm, stating: "That's exactly why I'm a fan of Mr Lytle, and that's exactly why the fans love him. He has the attitude all fighters should have, come to fight or don't come at all.I just want fights that the fans will talk about in years to come. Old school shootouts, blood, sweat and tears, death or glory."
