A potentially explosive lightweight bout between Anthony Njokuani and England's Andre Winner has been added to the UFC 132 card in July.

The UFC has confirmed Thursday's reports that both fighters have verbally agreed to the matchup. The event is set to take place July 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

"Get ready for what should be a stand-up war as verbal agreements are in for Andre Winner vs Anthony Njokuani July 2nd," said UFC president Dana White.

Njokuani (13-5) could be on thin ice with the UFC after losing his debut by unanimous decision to Edson Barboza last month. However, the entertaining nature of that defeat means he gets one more shot to prove himself at 155lbs.

Winner (11-5-1) is also in need of a win having lost back-to-back fights for the first time in his professional career. He is coming off a submission loss to Dennis Siver, who got the better of the Brit in the stand-up before finishing things on the mat.

UFC 132 is headlined by Dominick Cruz's bantamweight title defence against Urijah Faber.
