Penn confirms injury, Condit v Dong Hyun Kim signed

The UFC has announced that Carlos Condit will fight Dong Hyun Kim at UFC 132, filling the void left by the dual withdrawal of Jon Fitch and BJ Penn.
Fitch and Penn had been scheduled to rematch on the Las Vegas card in July, but Fitch pulled out injured a week ago and now Penn has followed suit.
It was initially reported that the Prodigy had withdrawn in order to wait for Fitch to recover, but now the former UFC lightweight and welterweight champion has revealed he had a shoulder injury before his first collision with Fitch.
"I hurt my shoulder before the Jon Fitch fight real bad," Penn said on his personal website. "Of course pushing my shoulder really hard during the Jon Fitch fight hurt my shoulder even more.
"I need about six to eight weeks to take it easy on my shoulder and rest. I don't know, if Jon Fitch is ready we can do it soon or take a new opponent."
Condit had been rumoured as a possible opponent for Penn following the withdrawal of Fitch, but now the well-rounded American will take on the unbeaten Kim.
UFC 132 is headlined by Urijah Faber's title collision with Dominick Cruz.
