Penn out of UFC 132

BJ Penn has confirmed rumours that he will not fight at UFC 132 in July after withdrawing from the event.
Penn was awaiting a new opponent after Jon Fitch pulled out with a shoulder injury last week, but rumours circulated that the UFC were no longer seeking a replacement.
Although it was initially reported that Penn also has an injury, MMA Junkie claim the former two-weight champion would prefer to wait for Fitch to recover, rather than fight somebody else at the Las Vegas event on July 2.
An article on the bjpenn.com confirmed that Penn had pulled out of the July 2 event.
"At this time we would like to validate the rumour and report this as fact," wrote Pedro Carrasco. "At 4am ET I was awaken with a phone call from BJ authorizing me to publish the announcement of his withdrawal. So without delay, I am passing this on to bjpenn.com on behalf of Team Penn.
"Originally scheduled to face Jon Fitch in a rematch at UFC 132, Penn was forced out of the match when Fitch announced a training injury that would keep him from competing. Exactly one week later, Penn himself was also removed from the card."
No details were given as to why Penn had withdrawn.
