Marshall Zelaznik talks to ESPN

British MMA fans should not go booking any hotels in anticipation of an October 15 event in Nottingham just yet, ESPN understands on Monday.

A report in the Nottinghamshire Evening Post accurately reported over the weekend that the UFC had booked the Nottingham Arena for October 15. However, that is just one of several bookings the UFC has provisionally made in the UK.

The UFC regularly earmarks several venues with a view to seeing which one best suits its plans. Therefore ESPN understands that the Nottingham Arena alone has been booked for two separate dates.

Indeed, the month of October is also not the only period pinpointed for a potential event, with dates set aside in several other months too.

UK UFC president Marshall Zelaznik recently told the ESPN UFC Podcast that Liverpool and London were the front runners for the next UK event, and that is likely to remain the case. However, Nottingham is home to a number of the UK's top fighters, including Dan Hardy, so it does remain a serious option for the UFC's visit later this year.

Zelaznik promised to bring a card in line with the UFC 105 event in Manchester, which was headlined by Randy Couture v Brandon Vera, and ESPN will bring news of the certified date and venue as soon as the UFC zones in on its target.
