Jose Aldo has confirmed he is fully anticipating Kenny Florian to be his next opponent following Ken-Flo's UFC 131 victory over Diego Nunes.

Featherweight champion Aldo had initially been heading for a clash with Chad Mendes, but he stated in honest fashion that he would require more recovery time following a tough five-rounder with Mark Hominick.

As a result, Mendes was handed a new opponent, leaving the path clear for Aldo to take on former lightweight No. 1 contender Florian, who debuted at 145lbs impressively against Nunes in Vancouver.

Florian took a unanimous decision at UFC 131 after using effective wrestling to negate Nunes' striking capabilities, and he will likely need similar tactics for Aldo. UFC president Dana White said the bout was likely, and now Aldo has confirmed he expects it to happen later this year.

"This is my expectation," he said on Brazilian TV programme Sensei De Batendo. "No doubt I think this is going to be a tough confrontation.

"Because of the name Florian holds in US, I guess this will be a marketable fight so I think he is the next opponent of mine."
