Bernie Ecclestone has given a guarantee that teams will not boycott this weekend's US Grand Prix.

Force India, Sauber and Lotus have discussed the possibility of not racing this weekend in order to underline their concerns about the financial stability of the sport. All three are running on relatively small budgets and have long campaigned for a fairer distribution of the sports revenues to help them continue to compete.

The sports two smallest teams, Caterham and Marussia, are not present at the US Grand Prix after going into administration and there are concerns more teams could follow over the winter. Ecclestone admits the sport has a problem but insists there will be 18 cars competing in this weekend's race.

"Forget all that crap," he said. "I promise they will be racing. They will be racing, I give you a guarantee - but I worry if they will be racing next year."

But Ecclestone admits any changes to the regulations are impossible without the agreement of all the teams and are not possible for next season.

"We've the problem that it needs unanimous agreement to change something. We could do it for 2016, but we've a whole year to go through."

Ecclestone is now hoping the big teams make sacrifices to help save the sport from itself.
