Gene Haas has changed the name of his planned F1 team ahead of its arrival on the grid for the 2016 season.

When his team was granted entry to F1 in April, the American confirmed his team would be known as Haas Formula for its inaugural season. It has been referred to as such since then but now, in order to reap the promotional benefits of its entry into the sport it will now be officially known as Haas F1 Team.

Speaking about the change, Haas said: "Haas F1 Team automatically conveys our place among the pinnacle of motorsports. When you hear 'F1' you know exactly what it is - a global racing series that showcases the latest technology and attracts the best talent in engineering and design.

"Haas Automation has an excellent reputation in the United States and I want that reputation to grow worldwide. Connecting Haas Automation with F1 in name and in practice when the Haas F1 Team debuts in 2016 is the best way to grow our business and elevate Haas Automation to a premium, global brand."

Haas will be based in Kannapolis, North Carolina, in a building adjacent to the headquarters of the Stewart-Haas NASCAR team.

The team has also launched its new official website, as well as a Facebook page for fan interaction.
