Virgin Racing driver Lucas di Grassi has bought a stake in the GP3 arm of Spain's Addax team.
Di Grassi drove for the Addax GP2 team with current Renault driver Vitaly Petrov in 2008, the duo helping clinch the constructors' title.
"I was very happy here and I achieved important objectives with them in 2008. Now I'm back to offer my services especially in the sports area," said di Grassi. "I'm looking forward to working on a project which is a genuine platform for young drivers and I will try to help them with technical and tactical preparation, give them information concerning the circuits, race strategy etc.
"The idea is to help these young talents make progress, as they are the future of motor-racing. I believe GP3 is the future of junior formula as it precedes GP2 and it should get stronger each year."
Owner Alejandro Agag welcomed the addition of di Grassi's input to the team.
"We are delighted to welcome Lucas aboard, although since his days as driver for the team in GP2 he has always been in close contact with us, which has made it all the easier for him to form part of this project, which has its sights set for a bright future," said Agag. "He is a young driver already consolidated among the world's elite in this sport and this is why we are convinced that, with his experience and his serious and tremendously professional way of working, he will make an important contribution to the success we hope to achieve in the short term. More than a shareholder he is a valuable addition to the team."
Addax recently enjoyed another successful weekend in Spa Francorchamps, Sergio Perez winning race 2 of the GP2 series.
